A recently unemployed single father struggles to get back his foreclosed home by working for the real estate broker who is the source of his frustration.
- Michael Shannon - Rick Carver
- Doug Griffin - Officer Dudura
- Randy Austin - Sheriff Anderon
- Andrew Garfield - Dennis Nash
- Ramin Bahrani
Starts off well but the third act is a let down. Shannon is fantastic as usual and Garfield gives a solid performance.
Garfield is the apprentice to Shannons master and though the relationship between the two characters is slightly on the fantastical side for a real world drama it is believable because when people have nothing they will do anything for something; especially when family’s involved.
All this good build up and tension is wasted in the third act when the inevitable happens, the apprentice turns on the master. At the end you’re left thinking it could have been better. A far superior movie about the financial crisis and peoples recent struggles is ‘The Big Short‘.
If it was 59 homes and finished on 59 minutes it would have been better. The third act is formulaic and an easy end to the movie.
