Review

From the director of Prisoners and the excellent Incendies comes Enemy which is based on the novel ‘The Double’ by Jose Saramogo.

I’ve heard people saying this is Lynchian, well, it isn’t for me. The pauses are there but the mood, the lighting and the menace aren’t. Gyllenhaal does a fine job playing the doubles but the film is just a bit well . . . boring and slow. It doesn’t build suspense and just feels like it was made because the star and director didn’t have anything better to work on at the time.

So so.
