When a band of brutal gangsters led by a crooked property developer make a play to take over the city, Master Ip is forced to take a stand.
- Donnie Yen - Ip Man
- Lynn Hung - Cheung Wing-sing
- Jin Zhang - Cheung Tin-chi (as Max Zhang)
- Mike Tyson - Frank
- Wilson Yip
Better than the second, not as good as the first. The story has been done a thousand times before. Bad guys bully people to get their property, good guys help the property owners. The relationship between Ip Man and his wife is developed more than in the previous two which gives the movie an unexpected but refreshing emotional edge.
Tyson’s character seems to have been squeezed into the script at a later date (when he said ‘yes’) and rewrites have ensued as there’s no real end to his story. He’s just there to fight Ip Man; which is pretty awesome when it happens. Tyson’s dubbed Cantonese is sensational, it sounds like the Cantonese Barry White, a huge contrast to Tyson’s real voice.
Donnie Yen is great as usual and Master Woo Ping always entertains with his fight scenes. It’s good to have those fast punches back that were so cool in the first.
