Review

If this was remade now with a few changes to the script I think it would be a great movie. William Gibsons script is good except for a few cheesy lines but the acting, direction and production are absolutely shocking. Keanu isn’t known for his acting chops but in this he is god awful. I’ve seen a fair few of Keanu’s movies but I don’t think I’ve ever seen him as bad as he is in this which has to be down to the director. The Wachowski’s got a decent performance out of him, he’s good in Point Break and John Wick but in this . . . shocking.

Good to see Dolph as a psychopathic priest and Takeshi Kitano who doesn’t really do much but is always good value.

I watched the extended cut with a couple of VR scenes in there with a funky soundtrack. These were the best parts of the movie and I wonder if they were included in the original cut.

The movie has dated horribly and hasn’t improved over time but it’s worth a watch just to see Gibson on screen.

Just wish they had done him justice.
